Objection

Muhammad Was Foretold in the Bible

The Bible foretells Muhammad, especially in Deuteronomy 18 and Jesus' promise of the Paraclete.

Deuteronomy 18 and the Paraclete passages fit the biblical context of Israel's prophetic hope and the Holy Spirit's mission; they do not require Muhammad, and later prooftexts should be tested in context.

Read Deuteronomy 18 in its covenant setting

Moses speaks of a prophet from among Israel's brothers and also gives tests for false prophecy. Acts applies the passage to Jesus, and the wider chapter does not authorize a message that overturns the apostolic gospel.

Read the Paraclete texts in John

Jesus says the Advocate is the Holy Spirit, sent by the Father in Jesus' name to teach and remind the disciples of Jesus' words. That description does not fit a later human messenger outside the apostolic circle.

Handle minor prooftexts briefly

Popular arguments from words such as periklutos or from Song of Songs depend on strained readings. They should not carry more weight than the direct context of the passages.
